Jen Slocumb has come a long way from the shy little girl with stage fright in her hometown of Ancaster, Ontario. After attending high school in Canada, Jen found the courage to audition to sing in a nonprofit group in The United States that brought positive messages into high schools. This journey sparked a fire in Jen that began her love and passion for performing and giving back. Now, Jen doesn’t meet a stranger, takes every opportunity to get involved and is dedicated to being a positive influence on the Auburn Opelika area she has called home since 2005.
Since meeting Rob, her husband and other half to her duo known as Martha’s Trouble, Jen has never stopped pursuing her dream of music. Martha’s Trouble has written hundreds of songs, recorded 12 albums, including a children’s lullaby album and two Christmas albums, and toured throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Their music has been featured in Billboard Magazine, Made for TV movies and USA Today. Martha’s Trouble has recently partnered with Royal Caribbean to offer performances on the open waters on board a concert cruise with future concert cruises already in the works.
In efforts to enhance the music culture of our community while promoting its social and economic growth, Jen coproduced the first annual Opelika songwriters festival that hosted over 40 songwriters from local aspiring artists to Grammy Award winners. Jen has also cultivated creative ways to engage community members through more intimate events at The Sound Wall, like super clubs, holiday concerts and listening concerts.
